Lépcső

Central Europe Dance Theatre production, as part of the Inner Outlines sequence.

The stairs are the stage of life. It presents us with unexpected and very much expected twists. The moving person is uncertain, unlike the stairs. The thoughts and desires of a person works the same. Their wings were lost a long time ago. At times they go up to the attic then down to the basement. A lot of lonesome desires like these leave a flat from time to time to turn into their own opposites on the streets, to become partners without desires. One who is needed by none; one who needs no one. Lack of bravery? Lack of potential? Everyone looks like what they are not. Some fight against this and fails. Some do not fight and others fail. The stairs, it seems, is a way but not a way out.

The text of the monologue was written by the poet, Zoltán Halasi he and Anna Réti worked together earlier on the performance called ‘Home of cards’.

Stairs was created as part of the Inner Outlines sequence as an initiative of the Central European Dance Theatre.
